Cape Fear River, North Carolina
Oceanside…
-
Starting at the RW "CF" MO ("A") bouy from Offshore, head NE (approx) to buoys R "2" and stay in the channel to G "3". The buoys are staggered.
-
Keeping in the channel between the buoys, taking advantage of the Ranges, run straight down to the G "9" and R "10" where the channel widens and turns slightly to starboard.
-
At G "13" the channel takes a slight turn to port…Watch your buoys and Ranges! There is a turn more to port at G "15". Tide and current play a Big part coming into this Inlet, and should be taken at slack tide.
-
As you get behind Oak Island things will simmer down, but watch the current.
You can head into Southport, a popular town, busy with everything from History, Museums, and the too many to count Golf Courses!
I came thru the Inlet after a run from Virginia, and stopped in Bald Head Island. They have only Electric Vehicles there (something we can learn from), and you can only get there by Boat or a Ferry out of Southport. The Island is just wonderful and the beaches are pristine! At Cape Fear point, the beach is a triangle, with the waves at a triangle to each other. The Wave action was definitely different.
